The Deputy National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Omorede Osifo, has described the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Senator Monday Okpebholo’s election as Governor of Edo State as a resounding endorsement of the people’s mandate and a moral triumph for democracy.

In a statement made available to Uptown Press following Thursday’s judgment, Hon. Osifo praised the apex court for upholding justice and reaffirming the will of the Edo people. Drawing inspiration from classical thinkers and the democratic ideals of history’s great statesmen, she likened Okpebholo’s emergence not only to a political victory, but to a manifestation of character and destiny.

“In the hallowed echoes of Aristotle’s reason, where virtue births governance and justice wears no mask, the gavel of truth has spoken,” she wrote. “Senator Monday Okpebholo, like the philosopher-king envisioned by Plato, ascends not just by conquest, but by character.”

The APC stalwart hailed the judgment as a “fresh chapter penned in courage, governed by clarity”, stating that the people’s voices have ultimately prevailed.

“On behalf of the All Progressives Congress and with the pride of a loyal comrade, I salute this triumph not as an end, but as an eternal beginning. May your leadership rise as the sun over Benin’s red earth — resolute, radiant, and righteous,” she added.

Hon. Osifo’s tribute comes amid widespread celebration among APC members and supporters, following the Supreme Court’s dismissal of all legal challenges to Okpebholo’s election. The court held that the petitioners had failed to prove their case, effectively bringing the protracted legal tussle to a close.
