Friends, well-wishers and family members graced the 40-day Fidau ceremony of late Mrs Alaja Afishetu Audu, mother of Mallam Gani Audu, the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the 2020 Edo guber election which was held on Saturday at the family compound in Aviele near Auchi, Etsako West Local Government.
Also in attendance is the immediate past national Chairman of the All Progressive Congress Comrade Adams Oshiomole and party stalwarts.
In his homily, the deputy Chief Imam of Aviele, Mallam Abu Audu who led the prayers admonished all present to live a life worthy of emulation and to be conscious of death every time.
The Cleric noted that: “As a Muslim, we are here (on earth) on a journey which will end one day. Let us remember the day we shall give account of our lives to Allah.”
Former national Chairman of All Progressive Congress, Adams Oshiomole described late Alaja Afishetu Audu as a loyal party member, a hardworking and generous woman who fought to keep the party together. He prayed for the repose of her gentle soul.
Oshiomole urged the people to continue to do good all the time, nothing that “being nice or good to people doesn’t stop them from fighting you.”
The 2020 deputy governorship candidate of the APC in Edo and son of the deceased, Mallam Gani Audu described late Alaja Afishetu Audu as community leader and team player.
According to him: “I am proud to have my Mum as a mother. She was kind and industrious. A team player.”
Other dignitaries that attended the event were: Government officials, APC loyalists, Former Etsako West Local Government Chairman and Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Lucky James.
The late Mrs Alaja Afishetu Audu died at the age of 85-years.
