Pacific Association Lifts Suspension of Edo NYCN Chairman

The Pacific Association of Nigeria has lifted the suspension of the Edo State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Moses Agwinede Joseph, restoring him to his position as the State Commandant of the association with immediate effect.

The decision was conveyed in a letter signed by the National President and Commandant-in-Chief of the association, Bishop Iwu Cosmos, and copied to the National Youth Council of Nigeria and other relevant stakeholders.

According to the association, the decision to reverse the suspension followed appeals from eminent Nigerians who called for peace, unity and understanding among members.

The letter stated that after a comprehensive review of the issues and a stakeholders’ meeting convened to deliberate on the matter, the Pacific Supreme Council resolved to pardon Agwinede and reinstate him.

“After a comprehensive review and a duly convened stakeholders meeting held on this matter, the Pacific Supreme Council, in its wisdom and magnanimity, resolved to pardon you. Consequently, your suspension from the Pacific Association of Nigeria is hereby cancelled with immediate effect and you are restored to your position and responsibilities as the State Commandant of the Pacific Association of Nigeria,” the letter read.

The association directed the reinstated NYCN chairman to immediately convene an emergency peace meeting involving stakeholders to address all outstanding disputes within the Edo State Youth Council.

It also urged him to ensure justice, fairness, inclusiveness and respect for the mandate of duly elected council members in resolving the lingering issues.

The Pacific Association further expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including Nigerians in the Diaspora, for their interventions, which it said contributed to the peaceful resolution of the crisis.

The reinstatement comes weeks after the Edo State chapter of the NYCN suspended Agwinede following disciplinary action taken by the Pacific Association of Nigeria.

In the earlier suspension letter, Bishop Cosmos Iwu accused Agwinede of failing to effectively represent the association, neglecting commitments made upon his appointment as State Commandant and engaging in actions that allegedly created friction with leaders and members of the council after assuming office as Edo State NYCN chairman.

The latest development is expected to ease tensions within the youth body and pave the way for reconciliation among its leadership and members..
