NYCN Critical to Grassroots Youth Development, Says Edo Commissioner

The Edo State Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, has reaffirmed that the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) remains a vital partner in driving youth development programmes to the grassroots, pledging stronger collaboration to empower young people across the state.

The Commissioner made the declaration while receiving the leadership of the NYCN, Edo State Chapter, alongside Coordinators from the 18 Local Government Areas during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Youth Affairs.

The delegation was led by the NYCN Edo State Chairman, Comrade Moses Agwinede Joseph, and included the NYCN Coordinator for Egor Local Government Branch, Comrade Emmanuel O. Emoekpere, as well as other Local Government Coordinators.

Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Amayaenvbo commended the NYCN for its unwavering commitment to mobilising, engaging and representing youths across Edo State, describing the Council as an indispensable partner in ensuring government policies and youth-focused initiatives reach communities at the grassroots.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Edo State Government under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo to expanding opportunities for young people through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, education, employment, sports development, civic participation and greater youth inclusion in governance.

The Commissioner stressed that the Ministry would continue to work closely with the NYCN and other youth organisations to identify the unique needs of young people across the state’s 18 Local Government Areas and implement practical interventions that promote self-reliance, productivity, peace and responsible leadership.

He also challenged the Local Government Coordinators to remain united, proactive and committed to the ideals of youth service by championing campaigns against cultism, drug abuse, internet fraud, violence and other social vices, while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and positive values among Edo youths.

Hon. Amayaenvbo further assured the delegation that the Ministry would sustain its open-door policy and continue supporting credible youth initiatives that align with the development agenda of the Edo State Government.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, NYCN Edo State Chairman, Comrade Moses Agwinede Joseph, appreciated the Commissioner for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Council’s readiness to partner with the Ministry in advancing youth empowerment, inclusion and sustainable development across the state.

The meeting ended with both the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the NYCN renewing their commitment to strengthening collaboration aimed at creating greater opportunities and a brighter future for Edo youths.
