The Media team of Senator Neda Imasuen has issued a firm rebuttal to recent allegations of underperformance made in an open letter by Comrade Ikhuenbor Felix Igbinevbo, popularly known as “Mr Figo”, describing the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
The letter, addressed to Governor Monday Okpebholo and the Edo State Executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused the senator representing Edo South Senatorial District of failing to deliver on his mandate. However, Imasuen’s team insists the attack lacks substance and veers into what they call “a theatre of personal grievance”, suggesting it may have been fuelled by unmet financial expectations rather than a genuine concern for the people.
In a detailed response released to the press, Senator Imasuen’s team outlined a series of legislative and constituency-based achievements over the past two years, presenting a picture of an active and results-oriented lawmaker.
Among his legislative accomplishments are the sponsorship of key bills such as the ‘Federal College of Education, Abudu (Establishment) Bill, 2024’, aimed at enhancing access to tertiary education in the senatorial district, and the ‘Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, intended to improve healthcare services nationwide. Senator Imasuen is also credited with resolving nine citizens’ petitions, with more currently under review — a signal, according to his aides, of his commitment to justice and accountability.
On education and youth development, the senator has reportedly: Sponsored annual scholarships for 420 indigent students across Edo South, funded full secondary school scholarships for numerous pupils, covered Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees for hundreds of underprivileged candidates, distributed learning materials to 21 primary schools in an ongoing educational support initiative.
Grassroots empowerment has also been a prominent feature of his interventions. His office claims he has: Facilitated agricultural training and distributed farming tools and fertilisers, sponsored vocational training for tailors and provided tools including sewing machines and generators, attracted over 2,000 presidential grants for small businesses, created over 17 federal job placements for Edo South indigenes, installed over 1,000 solar-powered streetlights and transformers to improve security and commerce.
In one of the more recent impacts noted over 500 farmers across Edo South’s 77 wards reportedly benefited from the senator’s distribution of farm implements and grants.
“We are thankful to Senator Imasuen for these farm implements. As the rainy season begins, the implements will go a long way to assist our farming activities,” said one beneficiary.
The rebuttal also addressed rumours surrounding Senator Imasuen’s potential defection to the APC. It framed the move not as political opportunism, but as a strategic alignment with the federal government to unlock further developmental opportunities for Edo South — in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda”.
“We urge Comrade Ikhuenbor and others of his ilk to rise above petty vendettas and join hands in the collective mission to uplift Edo South,” the statement read.
“Senator Imasuen remains open to collaboration with all well-meaning citizens committed to the progress and prosperity of our people. Empty rhetoric cannot erase the facts of his performance, which remains transparent, impactful, and rooted in service.”
