The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspects, including Mohammed Hassan Barau, Peace Ekom Robert, and Okoli Edoka Chioma, for their alleged involvement in internet fraud, cyberbullying, and defamatory actions.
Barau and Robert were allegedly involved in massive fraud of over N535 million, with Barau’s fraud amounting to N492.75 million and Robert’s to N42.9 million.
Barau was extradited to Nigeria from the United Arab Emirates by INTERPOL Abu Dhabi for his involvement in the fraud case of Mr. Akinola Bayo Michael.
The third suspect, Chioma, was arrested for defaming Erisco Food’s Nagiko Tomato Paste on social media, tagging it a killer without any credible evidence.
The police urge individuals and businesses to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of financial transactions to prevent falling victim to fraud. The NPF also reminds the public of the potential consequences of making false allegations, spreading false information, and cyberbullying.
