The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspects for criminal conspiracy, trespass, theft, and unlawful possession of a firearm in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspects were arrested by detectives attached to Keffi Divisional Headquarters following a complaint lodged by a resident of Kofar Hausa, Keffi, over unlawful trespass into his room on Saturday by one Shafiu Abdul-Rauf.
According to the statement, the complainant stated that upon raising an alarm, the suspect fled with his Android phone.
“Acting swiftly on the report, detectives attached to the division launched an intelligence-led operation, which led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Shafiu Abdul-Rauf, and one Usman Abdulmumuni, both male residents of Mayanka, Keffi,” the police spokesperson, revealed.
Nansel further announced that one locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge, two sharp cutlasses, one knife, two Tecno Android phones, one Itel mobile phone, a bunch of keys, and other incriminating items were recovered as exhibits during a search conducted on the suspects.
He added that the suspects are currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement in other criminal activities and to facilitate further necessary action.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has commended the prompt response and professionalism of the officers involved in the operation.
He assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the Police in combating crime across the State.
