Former Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has emerged as the Labour Party governorship candidate for Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abbo secured the party’s ticket after successfully scaling through the screening process conducted by the national leadership of the Labour Party at its headquarters in Abuja.
His emergence has positioned him as one of the major contenders in the race to occupy the Adamawa Government House in 2027, setting the stage for what is expected to be a fiercely contested election involving candidates from other leading political parties, including the APC and NDC.
Speaking shortly after receiving his nomination, Abbo expressed confidence in his electoral prospects, declaring that he would be sworn in as the next governor of Adamawa State in 2027.
The former lawmaker outlined his vision for the state, promising to prioritise economic growth, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, quality education, healthcare delivery and improved security if elected.
He also stressed the need for inclusive governance, pledging to unite the people of Adamawa and ensure that all communities benefit from government policies and programmes.
Abbo’s emergence is expected to further energise political activities across the state as parties intensify consultations, grassroots mobilisation and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
