Police Recover Stolen Toyota Highlander, Close In on Robbery Syndicate in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has recovered one of the two Toyota Highlander vehicles stolen during the September 6, 2026 robbery at the residence of Hon. Kennedy Odion, State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), off Winners Road, Ihie Community, Benin City.

The recovered vehicle, with registration number LSR 729 HY, was found around the New Benin axis following sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by the Command.

The breakthrough came after the Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, personally visited the scene and ordered the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to intensify efforts to track the perpetrators and recover the stolen property.

Acting on intelligence, operatives of the VCRU sustained their trail of the suspected robbery syndicate, leading to the recovery of the Toyota Highlander.

The Command said the recovery represents a significant breakthrough in the investigation, stressing that criminals who target residents and their property will not be allowed to operate with impunity.

However, the operation is far from over, as the Police have intensified efforts to recover the second stolen vehicle and other valuables taken during the robbery.

The Command said its objective remains to recover the stolen property, identify those responsible and bring the perpetrators to justice.

CP Daaor reassured residents that the Command would continue to deploy intelligence, strategic operations and available resources in the fight against criminal elements across the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly share credible information about suspicious persons, movements and activities with the Police.
