Residents of Express Avenue Appeal to Edo Government for Urgent Rehabilitation Amid Flooding Crisis

Residents of Express Avenue have called on the Edo State government to address the worsening erosion and flooding affecting their neighborhood.

In a letter delivered to the governor’s office on Osadebey Avenue, the Residents Association expressed concerns over the deteriorating conditions, which have made parts of the area nearly uninhabitable and forced some residents to abandon their homes.

The residents reported that severe flooding during the rainy season has wreaked havoc on Express Avenue, causing extensive damage to homes, roads, and infrastructure.

The appeal letter, signed by Residents Association Chairman Courage Asia and Public Relations Officer Victor Ofure Osehobo, emphasized the health hazards and economic challenges faced by those still living in the area.

A key point raised by the association is the potential role of the nearby moat, located on the eastern side of Express Avenue, as a possible part of a flood management solution.

The residents believe that incorporating the moat into a broader drainage and rehabilitation plan could mitigate the recurring flooding and offer long-term relief.

“We trust that with your administration’s commitment to infrastructural development, this issue can be resolved promptly to alleviate the suffering of residents,” the letter read.

The residents remain hopeful that the government will act swiftly, bringing much-needed relief to their flood-stricken community and restoring a sense of security to Express Avenue.
