A businesswoman in Benin City, Edo State, has raised the alarm after suspected robbers allegedly invaded her luxury and synthetic hair store and carted away hairs worth millions of naira.
The owner of Priceless Strands Luxury Hairs, located at 27 Tony Anene Road, off Ebenezer School, Ihama, GRA, Benin City, appealed to members of the public to help identify the suspects captured during the incident by the store’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
The businesswoman, who shared the footage on her Instagram page, @official.pricelessstrands, alleged that one of the male suspects and a woman had visited the shop a day before the incident under the guise of making enquiries about hairstyling services.
According to her, the same individuals returned the following day with other accomplices and allegedly robbed the store.
She said one of the suspects was armed with a gun while the others proceeded to remove hair products from the store and pack them into bags.
The CCTV footage showed the alleged robbers moving around the premises as they emptied the store of hair products, while a suspected gunman was seen pointing a firearm at two sales representatives.
The businesswoman urged Nigerians to share the footage widely to assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects.
However, the Edo State Police Command said the incident had not been formally reported to the police as of the time of its response.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, urged the victim to report the matter at the nearest police station and submit the CCTV footage and other relevant information to aid investigation.
Ikoedem noted that social media posts alone were not sufficient for the police to commence a formal investigation, stressing the need for victims of alleged crimes to make official reports.
She advised the businesswoman to provide details including the date and time of the incident, how the suspects arrived at the premises, the vehicle they may have used, their identities or descriptions, and any unusual activity noticed before or after the incident.
The police spokesperson said such information would help investigators establish the facts surrounding the alleged robbery and facilitate efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
