The Nigerian Senate has announced the postponement of its resumption date from September 17 to Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
This was disclosed in an internal memorandum issued by the Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze, on Wednesday.
The memo, titled “Change in Resumption Date from Summer Break,” was sent to all lawmakers, informing them of the revised schedule.
Initially, the Red Chamber was expected to reconvene on September 17, 2024, following its annual recess. However, the Senate leadership has directed a one-week extension.
The memorandum reads: “Please be informed that the resumption date from the ongoing recess has been rescheduled from Tuesday, September 17, 2024, to Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 11 am.”
The Senate began its annual recess on July 23, 2024, and the new date is expected to provide lawmakers additional time before reconvening for legislative activities.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” the memo concluded.
