Senator Imasuen Urges National Solidarity as Nigeria Honours Fallen Heroes on Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Senator Neda Imasuen has called for renewed national solidarity and stronger support for Nigeria’s Armed Forces as the country marked Armed Forces Remembrance Day, paying tribute to officers and soldiers who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.

In a statement to commemorate the occasion, the senator representing Edo South Senatorial District joined Nigerians in honouring the courage, labour and sacrifices of men and women in uniform who have served the country with honour and distinction.

He described fallen service personnel as heroes whose selfless service and unwavering commitment to protecting lives, property and Nigeria’s territorial integrity would remain etched in the nation’s memory.

“Today, we remember with deep gratitude the heroes who paid the ultimate price in defence of our country. Nigerians owe them eternal gratitude,” Imasuen said.

The lawmaker stressed the need for greater cooperation and solidarity with the Armed Forces as they continue to confront insecurity, banditry and other threats to national peace, noting that the challenges facing the country require collective action.

“Now more than ever, our security personnel need the full backing of both government and citizens to succeed in this critical task,” he added.

Imasuen reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to strengthen security institutions in order to safeguard Nigeria’s unity, stability and long-term prosperity, even as the nation reflects on the sacrifices of its fallen heroes.

He also assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would continue to prioritise national security through robust oversight and the enactment of laws aimed at empowering the Armed Forces and improving their operational effectiveness.

As the country honours its fallen heroes, the senator urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from their sacrifice in building a safer and stronger nation.

“May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in peace, and may their sacrifices continue to inspire a safer and stronger Nigeria,” he said.
