Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor-elect of Edo State, and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, were officially presented with their certificates of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday.
The ceremony took place at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, marking the formal confirmation of their electoral win.
Shortly after receiving their certificates, Okpebholo and Idahosa paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa.
The visit, a symbolic gesture following their electoral success, was aimed at presenting their certificates to the President and reaffirming their commitment to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor-elect was accompanied by a high-profile delegation of APC leaders, including the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
Also present were several governors from APC-controlled states, among them Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.
In addition, Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole and former Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu were in attendance to lend their support to the governor-elect.
The presentation of the certificates of return and the subsequent visit to Aso Rock signal the beginning of preparations for Okpebholo’s administration, with expectations running high for the future of Edo State under his leadership.
