The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has suspended a lecturer named Mr Mfonobong Udoudom, after he was caught on camera allegedly harassing a female student.
The video, which has now gone viral, shows the lecturer wearing only boxers while he was in the company of the female student. Mr Udoudom is a lecturer in the General Studies division of the university.
The incident, Uptown Press reports, has drawn widespread condemnation from students, faculty, and the general public. In response, the university management has taken swift action by suspending the lecturer pending an investigation into the matter.
The university’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Chief Okwun Omeaku, has stated that the institution has zero tolerance for any form of harassment and that all staff and students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner.
Meanwhile, report available to Uptown Press this morning shows that, the operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested the suspended lecturer.
