Stewardship: Imonofi one successful year in office as the Executive Chairman, Etsako West Local Government, Edo State

According to Peter F. Drucker, leadership is about doing the right things, while management is about doing things right.

Hon. (Alhaji) Imonofi Inusa has proven to be a prudent and workaholic manager with leadership par excellence and a clear vision, driven by passion to accomplish a greater Etsako West, even in the midst of dwindling economy and scarce resources, since he assumed office as the Executive Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council.

To run a people oriented government and spawn good communication with the people of Etsako West, Hon. Imonofi operates an open-door policy geared towards encouraging openness and transparency in his administration.

The abysmal challenges dawn on us by the prevailing novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), four months after he was sworn-in as the substantive Chairman, did not forestall him from delivering on good governance in a strenuous manner.

When Hon. Imonofi Inusa came into office, he quickly swung into action with a blueprint to tackle the challenges facing the local government.

Among these challenges is the management of waste. He took appropriate measures to ensure proper disposal and evacuation of waste overlaying the local government, combined with his personal monitoring of the process of the environmental sanitation exercises. He believes that a clean and hygienic environment bear good health.

He is tremendously committed to workers welfare by creating an enabling environment and good working relationship among workers. It is a priority for him to make timely payments of workers salary and other entitlements.

His commitment to peace, security of lives and properties of the inhabitants of Etsako West has prompted the Ex-servicemen in the local government to honour him with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

He has done marvelously well in the area of health with his responsiveness and personally leading campaigns against Polio, Lassa Fever and other communicable diseases.

In the outbreak of Coronavirus, the Chairman demonstrated leadership by example on leading numerous awareness campaigns, with the provision of medical outreach and distribution of infection prevention materials across the local government.

The Council Boss has not failed in the area of infrastructural development, despite the drastic drop in internally generated revenue (IGR) and the global economic downturn in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak.

In his sterling efforts for development, he reconstructed the dilapidated South Ibie Market, through the judicious use of his personal entitlement as the Council Chairman. He is unrelenting in his efforts to ameliorate and lobby for developmental projects that will change the face of the local government.

His famous compassion and outstanding role to encourage quality educational system has earned him the award of Excellence on Child Education, conferred by the Teachers Forum of Nigeria, among other awards.

Hon. Imonofi fathoms that no significant development can be achieved without finances, this is why he is implementing policies and reforms to improve the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the local government.

The amiable Chairman is a philanthropist who is magnanimous in nature and determined to build a better and progressive society.Youth empowerment is not left untouched as he continues to support and inspire the youths to grow, through multiple initiatives and programmes.

These remarkable achievements merited him as the winner of Nigerian Local Government Excellence Award (LOGEXA) by the prestigious Medals Magazine, for his excellent performance in Grassroots Development among the local government chairmen in Nigeria, on 13th October, 2020.

He is evermore ready, equipped with the know-how and vigour to serve the people.
