The Edo State chapter of RELAX, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria, has commenced plans for an aggressive grassroots mobilisation campaign across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The group said it would take the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies and programmes directly to communities across the country, particularly in areas where it believes the administration’s achievements have not received adequate publicity.
Edo State Coordinator of RELAX, Hon. Patrick Idiake, disclosed this at a press briefing on Monday in Benin City while outlining the group’s mobilisation strategy, stressing that the organisation would deepen its engagement with ordinary Nigerians at the grassroots.
Idiake listed infrastructure development, student financing, that is, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), tax reforms and increased revenue allocations to States and local governments among the areas the group intends to promote in its grassroots campaign.
He also commended the Federal Government’s decision to remove fuel subsidy, arguing that the revenues previously committed to subsidy payments could now be channelled to the different tiers of government.
According to him, RELAX would work alongside other pro-Tinubu groups, including the City Boy Movement and Renew Hope, but would concentrate heavily on building direct community-level support for the President.
“We are taking the message to the grassroots because that is where the people are. Nigerians need to understand what the government is doing and how these policies affect their daily lives,” Idiake said.
The Edo State Women Coordinator of RELAX and Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Barrister Bisi Idaomi, said women, farmers and other grassroots stakeholders would occupy a strategic position in the mobilisation drive.
Idaomi singled out the student loan programme as one of the Federal Government’s initiatives capable of attracting support among families, particularly mothers seeking better educational opportunities for their children.
She also pointed to the participation of farmers in the movement, saying agricultural communities remained an important constituency in the administration’s policy direction.
On local government autonomy, Idaomi said the policy would give citizens greater room to demand accountability from elected officials at the grassroots.
She disclosed that RELAX plans to take its message to communities across all 774 local government areas, insisting that the organisation would not limit its activities to political centres but would move directly into communities.
Idaomi also defended the administration’s economic and financial reforms, noting that President Tinubu’s professional background in accounting, finance and revenue administration had shaped his approach to managing the country’s finances.
Speaking on behalf of farmers, the Edo State Federated Fadama Chairman, Hon. Henry Ebole, commended President Tinubu over what he described as his support for farmers in Edo State.
Ebole subsequently pledged the support of Edo farmers for the RELAX movement, signalling their readiness to participate in its planned grassroots mobilisation.
With its proposed 774-local-government-area outreach, RELAX is positioning grassroots engagement as a major component of its campaign to promote the Tinubu administration’s policies and build support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
