Ekpoma– The Acting Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Professor Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, has expressed strong optimism about the future of the State-owned institution.
He believes that through the concerted efforts of the current administration, AAU will regain its esteemed status among Nigerian universities in the coming years, despite various challenges.
During a courtesy visit by the Vice Chancellor of Mudiame University, Irrua, Prof. Dajab Danjuma, and his management team, Prof. Adagbonyin highlighted the university’s commitment to technological advancement and academic excellence. “We are managing a strong army of enthusiastic scholars and students in pursuit of their academic goals, and God is helping us,” he stated.
Prof. Adagbonyin emphasized AAU’s focus on technology, which has been a significant aspect of its growth. “We are a technology-oriented institution. Our holistic embrace of technology has been our selling point for many years,” he noted. He elaborated on the university’s electronic examination system for 100 and 200 level students, which streamlines the process and ensures timely results. This technological initiative has garnered recognition, as AAU recently won three awards from the Nigeria Technology Awards (NiTA) for Best State University Website, Best State University in the Use of Technology, and Best State University in the Use of Social Media.
Highlighting further advancements, Prof. Adagbonyin revealed the implementation of an efficient results processing system. “We have a process in place where certificates can be given to students within 48 hours of request,” he said. This online application system, along with a digital transcript issuance process, aligns with global best practices.
Acknowledging the challenges faced, Prof. Adagbonyin mentioned the ongoing project to digitize students’ transcripts from the university’s inception up to the 2016/2017 session. This initiative aims to resolve the difficulties in providing transcripts for graduates predating the 2016/2017 session.
“Our management team is determined to upgrade and improve the university. We have taken on challenges headlong to serve our university with all our energy, time, and talent,” Prof. Adagbonyin asserted.
Responding to the visit, Prof. Dajab Danjuma of Mudiame University praised the efforts of AAU’s management. “We are here to interface with you as our elder brother institution with vast institutional experiences that would benefit our own university,” he said. Prof. Danjuma emphasized the importance of producing forward-looking professional graduates through collaboration with established institutions like AAU.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of AAU’s facilities, led by Prof. Adagbonyin, showcasing the university’s infrastructure and commitment to excellence.
