The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed Oriyomi Hamzat as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State for the 2027 general election.
Hamzat announced the development on Wednesday morning through his official Facebook page, describing the confirmation as a call to serve the people of Oyo State.
He said the responsibility came with “deep humility” and a strong sense of duty, promising to pursue a new approach to governance anchored on service, integrity and accountability.
According to Hamzat, “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially confirmed me as the 2027 Governorship Candidate of Accord Oyo State.
“The journey has just begun!
“I receive this responsibility with deep humility and great sense of duty to the people of Oyo State.
“It is a call to serve, to lead, and to help build the Oyo State we all deserve.”
The Accord candidate pledged to listen to residents, work for the people and offer what he described as a new perspective to governance.
“The journey ahead will demand courage and an unwavering commitment to the people.
“I am ready to listen, ready to work, and ready to bring a new perspective to governance — one anchored on Service, Integrity, and Accountability,” he said.
Hamzat also declared that his political campaign would focus on placing the people at the centre of government, urging Oyo residents to believe again and aspire to build a state where government works for everyone.
“Oyo State must set the pace.
“This is our moment to believe again, to dream bigger, and to build an Oyo where government truly works for everyone.
“No excuses.
“No distractions.
“No turning back,” he declared.
He further announced September 9 as the commencement of the next phase of his political journey, saying he would take his “New Dawn” message to communities across the state.
“From our cities to our towns, from our communities to our villages… We will listen to the people.
“We will engage the people.
“And together, we will build the future we want,” Hamzat said.
He stressed that the campaign was not a personal journey but a collective one involving the people of Oyo State.
“This is not just my journey.
“It is our journey.
“This shall be governance with difference,” he declared.
