The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee has said it will commence full enforcement of the ban on Sachet Gin and locally made Nigerian herbal mixtures popularly known as Agbo across the State from Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The committee said the grace period granted to traders and other stakeholders to comply with the directive expired on Sunday, September 20, paving the way for the commencement of enforcement.
Chairman of the committee, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, warning traders and members of the public against selling, hawking or hoarding Sachet Gin and Agbo.
According to him, violators will be sanctioned, with prescribed fines paid into the Edo State Government Single Account.
He added that the affected products would also be seized and confiscated by enforcement officials.
The chairman urged traders to comply with the ban to avoid sanctions, while calling on members of the public to support efforts to protect consumers from fake, adulterated and potentially harmful products.
He said the announcement was intended to adequately prepare traders, consumers and other members of the public for the enforcement exercise.
The committee reiterated its commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring that harmful and adulterated products are kept out of circulation in the State.
