The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured four of the five legislative seats contested in Saturday’s by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won the remaining seat in Bauchi State, preventing an outright APC sweep of the five constituencies.

The elections, held on September 19, involved one federal constituency and four State House of Assembly constituencies. INEC’s official election portal lists the affected constituencies as Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe, Dawakin Kudu in Kano, Disina and Sakwa in Bauchi, and Udu in Delta State.

In Gombe, APC candidate Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The APC also secured the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano and the Udu State Constituency in Delta.

In Bauchi, the party won the Disina State Constituency, while the APM secured the Sakwa State Constituency in Zaki Local Government Area.

The results gave the APC four of the five available legislative seats, while the APM emerged with one.

The outcome comes as political parties intensify preparations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with the by-elections providing another test of the parties’ electoral strength across different parts of the country.
