The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited is set to introduce smart self-service fuel stations across Nigeria in phases, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Bayo Ojulari, has disclosed.

Ojulari said the phased rollout would allow the national oil company to assess the outcome of its initial deployment before expanding the initiative nationwide.

Speaking during an interview on Friday, the NNPC boss said the company would adopt a structured approach to the deployment of the smart stations, with subsequent phases guided by the results recorded from the initial rollout.

The move signals NNPC’s push towards greater automation and technology-driven operations in the downstream petroleum sector, potentially changing how motorists access and purchase fuel at its stations.

Ojulari, however, did not disclose the locations of the initial smart stations or provide a specific timeline for the nationwide rollout.

The NNPC is expected to use the outcome of the first phase to determine the pace and scope of subsequent deployments across the country.
