Buhari Commissions New Security Equipment in Lagos

Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Sanwo-Olu has donated some crime-fighting equipment to the police.

The equipment, made up of vehicles and gadgets, were commissioned on Thursday, June 10, 2021, by Nigeria’s President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari.

Shortly after receiving the commissioned equipment, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by its Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, went to town, in what the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, termed “Show of Force” to flashpoints and arrested 19 suspected traffic robbers and miscreants who, he said, “have been terrorising motorists and commuters”, adding that the operation is ongoing and currently mounting surveillance on the Eko bridge.

The arrests were made in Agege, Seven-Up cum Ojota axis, Surulere and Eko bridge.

According to the Command image maker, the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Hakeem Odumosu, has charged Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders, especially the RRS Commander, Yinka Egbeyemi, to make a judicious use of the equipment to decimate the activities of hoodlums at the identified areas across the state.

“The CP further directed that additional traffic surveillance officers, with motor bikes, be deployed to the strategic places in the state in order to keep criminals at bay”, the PPRO said in a press statement.

While reassuring the public of adequate security of their lives and property, the police boss orederd that the suspects be transferred to the Command’s Special Squad for thorough investigation.
