The Executive Chairman of Owan West Council in Edo State, Hon. Frank Ilaboya, has assured the people of Avbiosi Old (Ward 5) of his readiness to fast track the commissioning of their Primary Healthcare Centre in order to cater for the healthcare needs of the people.
The Chairman gave this assurance when he held a meeting with the Community Stakeholders including Chiefs and Members of ‘Ihoro Ivbioisukpenuau WhatsApp Platform.’
The Council Boss, while commending the group for their efforts to ensure the health centre is put to immediate use, assured them of his resolve to commission it latest January 28, 2021.
“I want to commend you for all you have been doing to ensure this facility is open for business. We need this type of collaboration from other communities for us to reach out to all.
“This administration takes healthcare delivery very seriously and we will continue to ensure that our people get the best within reasonable distance.
“By the special grace of God, we shall be coming to commission this Health Centre by January 28th this year.”
Hon. Ilaboya also used the occasion to announce his plans of mobile healthcare for the elderly in the Local Government and the recently introduced free registration for Pregnant women and Children less than five (5) years of age.
Speaking on behalf of the members of the Community, Mr. Fredrick Odiawa, a retired Controller of Immigration, expressed thanks to the Council Chairman for the meeting.
“Mr. Chairman, let me thank you profusely, on behalf of our members, for this interaction. You initiated this idea that this meeting be held at this health centre today and we deeply commend you for this.
“We also thank you for your gracious promise, not only to officially open this centre for use on the 28th, but to also ensure that staff and medical equipment are deployed here. We are very grateful.”
In his remarks, Rt Hon Omon Ezomon, one time Deputy Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, and a member of ‘Ihoro Ivbioisukpenuau WhatsApp Platform’, thanked Hon Ilaboya for always keeping to his words.
“The fact that you came here this afternoon with the full compliments of the medical crew shows how serious minded you take issue of health care in the Local Government. This is well appreciated.”
The Council Boss and his entourage were later conducted round the Health Centre located at the centre of the community.
Those who accompanied the council boss were Hon. Monday Alao Fidelis, Supervisor for Health; Hon. Friday Oronya, Supervisor for Works; Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, PHC Co-Ordinator in the LGA; Mrs. Peace Eguaoje, Local Immunization Officer; Mr. Jonah Patrick Omokhodion, Health Educator and Mrs. Gladys Ojeaburu, the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer (DSNO).
It will be recalled that the 0HC was built by the Local Government in collaboration with Niger Delta Development Commission, but has not been put to use ever since.
The Frank Ilaboya-led administration has again taken up the challenge to open it for the benefit of the community.
