Final list of candidates for the forthcoming Edo Council Polls Out

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) hereby informs the general public, political parties, and all stakeholders that it has published the final list of candidates for the forthcoming Edo State Local Government Council Elections scheduled for Saturday, 11th July 2026.

The Commission is pleased to announce that a total of twelve (12) political parties successfully completed the nomination process as of 4:00 p.m. on 16th April 2026 and will be participating in the elections across the State.

This publication follows the conclusion of the period allowed for the withdrawal and substitution of candidates. Consequently, no further withdrawal or replacement of candidates will be permitted, except in the event of the death of a candidate or running mate before Election Day, as provided for under Section 34(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

It will be recalled that on 17th April 2026, the Commission published the personal particulars of candidates who emerged from the primaries conducted by political parties for the 2026 Edo State Local Government Council Elections, in compliance with the relevant provisions of the law.

Accordingly, the Commission hereby publishes the final list of duly nominated candidates who will contest in the elections. The comprehensive list, including details such as party affiliation, age, gender, and academic qualifications, has been made available for public information on the Commission’s official platforms (EDSIEC Local Government Offices, Headquarters, Website and Social Media Platform).

EDSIEC reiterates its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and transparent elections and urges all stakeholders to continue to cooperate with the Commission in the interest of a peaceful and successful electoral process.
