Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has urged members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo Central Senatorial District to remain united and dedicated to ensuring the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the appeal during an interactive meeting with APC stakeholders, party members and support groups in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, where he emphasised the importance of unity and teamwork in strengthening the party.
The meetings, which took place at the governor’s residence in Irrua and Okaijesan Town Hall, were organised to engage party members, address their concerns and mobilise support ahead of the local government elections and the 2027 presidential election.
The gathering was attended by top party officials and leaders, including the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor; Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe, Edo Central APC senatorial leader; former Edo Assembly Speakers, Rt. Hon. Thomas Okosun, Rt. Hon. Justin Okonobu and Rt. Hon. Victor Edoro; former Senator Clifford Ordia and other party stakeholders.
Speaking to party members, Governor Okpebholo called on them to put aside disagreements and work together towards achieving success for the APC at all levels.
He said the meeting was an opportunity to reconnect with party faithful and have honest conversations, adding that the large turnout showed the support he enjoys from members.
The governor also expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would receive massive support from Edo State in the 2027 presidential election, noting that the Federal Government’s policies and projects had positively affected many Nigerians.
Okpebholo commended the Federal Government for its intervention in Edo State, especially the rehabilitation of the Ekpoma-Ehor road, which he said had improved transportation and boosted economic activities in the area.
He described the removal of fuel subsidy as a difficult but necessary decision by the Tinubu administration to redirect resources towards national development.
During his meeting with transport operators, the governor promised to support their activities and encouraged them to contribute towards the APC’s success in future elections.
He also revealed that the First Lady of Nigeria would soon visit Edo State to empower women through business support loans aimed at improving their economic wellbeing.
Meanwhile, APC Deputy State Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh, urged party members to continue supporting the administration, stressing that maintaining political leadership was important for sustaining development across Edo State.
