Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering on the mandate given to it by the people, while calling on APC members and supporters across the state to sustain their support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the remarks on Monday during his visits to Egor and Oredo Local Government Areas as part of efforts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
Governor Okpebholo, accompanied by APC leaders and senior government officials, visited several locations across the two local government areas to interact with party members and mobilise support for APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
In Egor Local Government Area, the delegation visited the Ogida Barracks Police Training School and the Textile Mill, where party members from the 10 wards gathered to receive the governor.
In Oredo, the governor and his team visited Garrick Memorial College, Edokpolor Grammar School and Uwa Primary School, where he addressed party members and reiterated his administration’s commitment to the development of Edo State.
Okpebholo thanked residents of Egor and Oredo for their support for the APC during the recently concluded local government elections and urged them to maintain the same support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He called on party members to vote for APC candidates contesting seats in the House of Representatives, Senate and Edo State House of Assembly across the state’s three senatorial districts.
“The turnout today in all the places visited in Egor and Oredo, despite the rain, speaks volumes about the love for the party and all our candidates in the general election, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We will continue to work according to the mandate Edo people gave us. We will work for the growth and development of the state and the party.
“I am standing in the gap for President Tinubu, and I know we are all committed to ensuring that we deliver 2.5 million votes for his re-election in 2027,” the governor said.
Governor Addresses Road Infrastructure
Speaking on the condition of roads across Edo State, Governor Okpebholo said his administration was working to rehabilitate roads inherited from previous administrations and ensure that roads across the state remain motorable.
“The bad roads in the state did not happen today. These roads were there before we came to power, but we are working to ensure that all the bad roads are fixed.
“We will work to ensure that all roads in the state are motorable. This is the reason why you voted for us,” he said.
The Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, thanked APC members for their continued support and urged them to remain committed to the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Edo State APC Chairman, Mr. Jarrett Tenebe, also commended party members for their support for the party and the governor.
Tenebe urged the party’s supporters to back Governor Okpebholo’s efforts to secure 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“We did it before during the local government elections, where we gathered 2,158,600 votes. This has shown that the 2.5 million votes is very achievable. The governor is a party man, and the party is doing well,” he said.
The Chairmen of Egor and Oredo Local Government Areas, Hon. Osaro Eribo and Hon. Gabriel Iduseri, respectively, also appealed to residents to sustain their support for the APC, its candidates and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
