Gov Okpebholo Approves Nomination of Six Commissioners for Assembly Confirmation

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has endorsed the nomination of six individuals as Honourable Commissioners-designate. This announcement was made public in a statement issued by Umar Musa Ikhilor, the Secretary to the State Government.

The nominees, whose appointments are subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly, bring a diverse range of expertise spanning law, business, public administration, and environmental management. The list includes:  Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu, Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, Sir (Dr.) Lucky Eseigbe, Mr. Andrew Ijegbai, Barr. Marie Olabisi Idaomi.

Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu is a seasoned legal practitioner with over three decades of experience, Hon. Ohonbamu is known for his legislative acumen and commitment to public welfare. He previously served as a Minority Leader, Deputy Speaker, and committee chair in the Edo State House of Assembly. He also held the position of Commissioner for Information and Orientation from 2017 to 2020.

Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo is a legal expert and politician, Dr. Osifo holds advanced degrees in law, political science, and public administration. His past roles include serving as Edo State Commissioner for Education and Energy.

Dr. Paddy Iyamu  is a specialist in business administration and human resource management, Dr. Iyamu has excelled in the banking, oil and gas, and marine sectors. He is also a recognised philanthropist and currently serves as Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Sir (Dr.) Lucky Eseigbe  is a lawyer by profession, has held advisory roles in the National Assembly and recently served as Managing Director of the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency.

Mr. Andrew Ijegbai is an environmental scientist with over 20 years of experience, Mr. Ijegbai has led numerous community development and environmental sustainability projects. He is Managing Director of Phantom Energy Group of Companies.

Barr. Marie Olabisi Idaomi is a legal and governance expert with extensive experience in corporate law, litigation, and public policy. She has consulted for several international and local organisations and holds a Master’s in Public Administration.

The nominations signal Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to assembling a capable team to further the state’s development agenda.

The Edo State House of Assembly is expected to deliberate on the nominees in the coming weeks.
