Governor Monday Okpebholo has nominated former Commissioner, Dr. Washington Osa Osifo, for appointment as a Commissioner in Edo State, in a move aimed at strengthening his administration’s governance team.
The nomination was announced by the Edo State Government in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
According to the statement, Governor Okpebholo approved the nomination of Dr. Osifo as a Commissioner-designate, citing his vast experience in public service, administration and politics.
Dr. Osifo, a seasoned lawyer and administrator, holds academic qualifications in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, as well as Comparative Politics and Development.
The commissioner-designate is no stranger to governance in Edo State, having previously served in various capacities as a commissioner under past administrations.
The state government described him as a respected political figure with a strong record of service, noting that he has earned recognition for his contributions to community development, good governance and political leadership across the state.
“The nomination of Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation,” the statement added.
If confirmed by the Edo State House of Assembly, Osifo will join Governor Okpebholo’s cabinet as the administration continues efforts to drive its development agenda across the state.
The nomination is expected to undergo legislative screening and confirmation in the coming days.
