Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has taken the All Progressives Congress (APC) grassroots mobilisation drive to Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, braving heavy rainfall to engage party leaders, candidates and supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor’s visit, which covered the Ologbo, Upper Sakponba and Ikpoba axes, formed part of the APC’s ongoing ward-to-ward mobilisation across Edo State.

Okpebholo was received by the APC leadership in the local government, the Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Council, Hon. Eric Sino Osawaru, and APC candidates for the National Assembly and Edo State House of Assembly.

Despite the downpour, the governor pressed ahead with the engagements, meeting party members and grassroots stakeholders and urging them to remain connected to the party’s structures.

The development comes barely days after Okpebholo embarked on similar grassroots mobilisation activities in other parts of Benin City, reinforcing the APC’s push to consolidate its structures ahead of the 2027 elections. Recent reports also indicate that the governor has been personally leading the mobilisation exercise across the state.

Speaking during the Ikpoba-Okha engagement, Okpebholo acknowledged the support of APC members and reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering on the mandate it received from Edo voters.

The governor also used the opportunity to present APC candidates for the forthcoming elections to party faithful and called for unity and sustained mobilisation within the party.

The APC’s state chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party had commenced mobilisation across all 18 local government areas as part of its preparations for the 2027 elections.

The Ikpoba-Okha engagement provided a platform for party leaders, candidates, supporters and grassroots stakeholders to interact directly with the governor and discuss the party’s activities and mobilisation strategy ahead of the polls.
