The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded more than 6,000 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected by eligible voters in Edo State, with the ongoing ward-level distribution exercise scheduled to end on Thursday, October 15.
The collection drive, which began on Friday, October 9, is designed to enable registered voters to obtain their cards within their wards before the process moves to local government area offices.
INECβs Public Affairs Officer in Edo State, Olayiwola Toyin, announced the figures in a statement, describing the exercise as a convenient and time-saving way for eligible voters to collect their PVCs.
Toyin urged those who have yet to obtain their cards to visit the designated collection points in their wards before the exercise closes, warning that they could miss the opportunity to collect their PVCs at that level.
She emphasised that possession of a PVC is essential for eligible citizens to participate in elections and called on residents to take advantage of the remaining collection days.
At the conclusion of the ward-to-ward exercise, PVC collection is expected to continue at the local government area level, according to the commission.
INEC encouraged all eligible voters who are yet to collect their cards to act promptly before the current phase ends.
