President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, setting the stage for the ruling party’s re-election campaign ahead of the next presidential election.
At the inauguration, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed confidence that the party would secure victory in 2027, pointing to its political structure, growing support base and the performance of the Tinubu administration.
Yilwatda said the APC was well-positioned for the electoral contest, urging party members to build on the administration’s achievements and strengthen the party’s mobilisation efforts across the country.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, in his remarks, defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing the President’s willingness to take difficult decisions as evidence of his commitment to tackling Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Shettima said the reforms were aimed at putting the country on the path to economic recovery, despite the difficulties associated with implementing major policy changes.
He also urged members of the newly inaugurated campaign council to close ranks, work together and mobilise support for the APC ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The inauguration marks a major step in the ruling party’s preparations for the next electoral contest, with its leadership projecting confidence in Tinubu’s chances of securing another term.
However, the APC’s re-election ambition will ultimately be tested at the polls, where voters will decide whether the administration’s policies and performance merit a fresh mandate.
