Tragedy hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) this past weekend as Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau, the newly elected Assistant Organising Secretary of the APC in Kano State, was found dead inside an elevator at a hotel in Abuja.
Ginsau, a respected lawyer and party stalwart, had travelled to the nation’s capital ahead of the APC national convention to help organise accommodation for Kano State delegates. After successfully arranging lodging, he checked into Chida Hotels in the Utako District.
Concern grew on Friday, March 27, when Ginsau failed to attend the convention and could not be reached. Party members reported his disappearance to the Utako Police Division, which informed them of an incident at the hotel. A subsequent search led to the discovery of his lifeless body inside the hotel’s elevator.
Party officials say some delegates had previously complained about a faulty elevator at the hotel, prompting calls for a full investigation into potential negligence by the management. An autopsy is ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact cause of death.
Ginsau’s death has plunged the Kano APC chapter into grief, with leaders and family members describing the loss as shocking. The party has set up a committee to liaise with security agencies and support the investigation.
He is survived by his family and colleagues who remember him for his legal expertise and contributions to party organisation.
