A Ghanaian chef and food vendor based in the United Kingdom, identified as Stephen Akuoko, has been sentenced to two years in prison for storing food meant for sale inside a bathroom bathtub.

The discovery was made when firefighters responded to a fire outbreak at his residence. During the operation, they reportedly found a large quantity of food itemsβ€”especially fishβ€”kept in highly unhygienic places such as the bathtub and toilet floor.

The disturbing discovery prompted an investigation by public health and environmental sanitation authorities, which later led to his prosecution and conviction.
