Fresh controversy has erupted in Edo South’s 2027 political landscape as Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama faces allegations of misleading the public over his purported resignation from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

Credible sources within the organisation have reportedly confirmed to Uptown Press that Ogbeide-Ihama remains on the payroll as Executive Director, Corporate Services, directly contradicting his earlier claim that he had stepped down to pursue his senatorial ambition.

The development has sparked outrage among political stakeholders, who describe the alleged move as deceptive and a calculated attempt to circumvent established electoral guidelines.

Recall that in March 2026, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, directed all political appointees seeking elective office under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to resign on or before March 31, in line with provisions of the amended Electoral Act.

Insiders argue that if the allegations are proven, Ogbeide-Ihama’s actions would amount to a clear violation of both the law and party directives—raising serious questions about his credibility and respect for due process.
