A former Kano State governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has lamented that he and his supporters gained nothing after helping former President Muhammadu Buhari secure victory in the 2015 presidential election.
Kwankwaso reportedly stated that despite the sacrifices made by members of the Kwankwasiyya movement and their role in mobilising support for Buhari and the All Progressives Congress during the 2015 polls, they were sidelined after the party assumed power.
The former governor said many of his loyalists expected recognition and inclusion in government after the APC’s historic victory over the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015, but according to him, they were abandoned politically.
Kwankwaso’s remarks come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of future elections, as debates continue over alliances formed during the 2015 election that brought Buhari to power.
