A political storm erupted in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Saturday as aggrieved supporters of former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, publicly burned their All Progressives Congress (APC) membership cards and party brooms in protest over what they described as unfavourable political developments within the party.
The demonstrators, who gathered in large numbers despite repeated appeals from APC stakeholders and party leaders, said their action was a clear expression of dissatisfaction with recent events affecting supporters of the former police chief.
Addressing journalists during the protest, the aggrieved members declared their unwavering loyalty to Mohammed Adamu, insisting that no amount of intimidation, pressure, or political manoeuvring would force them to abandon their support for him.
According to the protesters, their political allegiance was a matter of personal conviction and choice, stressing that they would continue to stand firmly behind the former IGP regardless of developments within the ruling party.
