Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that the largest amount of money he has ever made within a single year included a staggering $10 billion generated in just the first quarter.
The billionaire businessman made the revelation during an interview with James Dumoulin of *The School of Hard Knocks*, where he spoke about his wealth, business empire and legacy.
Asked about the most money he had ever made in a year, Dangote responded with a figure that underscored the scale of his business operations.
“First quarter, we did about $10 billion,” he said.
The founder and president of the Dangote Group also addressed questions surrounding his net worth, which is estimated at about $38 billion by Forbes.
However, the business mogul appeared to suggest that the widely reported figure may not fully reflect the true value of his assets, noting that some of his companies are not publicly listed.
Dangote’s comments come amid growing global attention on his sprawling business interests, which span cement, sugar, salt, fertiliser, petroleum refining and other key sectors of the African economy.
Despite his vast wealth, the industrialist said his greatest ambition is not to be remembered for the billions he has accumulated but for his contribution to the continent’s economic transformation.
“I want to be remembered as somebody who industrialised Africa,” Dangote said.
The remark reflects a long-standing vision that has driven many of his investments, particularly in manufacturing and large-scale industrial projects aimed at reducing Africa’s dependence on imports and boosting local production.
Dangote remains one of the most influential business figures on the continent, with his ventures continuing to play a significant role in shaping Africa’s industrial landscape.
