Edo Govt, Oredo Council Strengthen Partnership to Drive Poverty Reduction and Social Welfare

The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to poverty alleviation and social welfare following a strategic courtesy visit by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to the Oredo Local Government Council, signaling a strengthened partnership aimed at improving livelihoods at the grassroots.

Speaking during the visit, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Bisi Idaomi Esq, reiterated the government’s dedication to people-centered policies that uplift the most vulnerable in society.

She emphasized that the Ministry’s core mandate focuses on empowerment programmes, targeted cash transfers, and sustainable support systems designed to reduce vulnerability and enhance economic stability.

Dr. Idaomi further underscored the Edo State Government’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and accountability in the delivery of social welfare programmes. She noted that strategic collaboration with the Oredo Local Government Council will ensure that interventions are well-targeted, impactful, and responsive to the real needs of the people. She also assured of the Government’s readiness to construct Greenhouses within the next 3 years,stating that construction of the first Greenhouse is already underway.

In his response,The Oredo Local Government Chairman, Hon.Engr Iduseri, stated that Poverty is found at the Grassroots.
“I believe working together with the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation will go a long way to supporting our people for better livelihood and economic support.”
Greenhouse is the way to go,issues of insecurity will no longer be there because its closer and one doesn’t have to travel far to farm.We have done alot in supporting our people in getting them off the streets on social welfare and social inclusion.”

In attendance from the Oredo Local Government Council was the Chairman of the Council,Hon,Engr Gabriel Iduseri,Vice Chairman,Oke Joseph, Council Secretary,Hon Alexander Asoh Osayi amongst others.
