Emeka Ike Storms INEC Office, Alleges Irregularities

Popular Nollywood actor Emeka Ike and musician Trageel caused a stir in Abuja on Friday after storming the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Area 10 over alleged irregularities surrounding the primary elections of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

The dramatic confrontation came a day after the NDC conducted its party primaries, with Emeka Ike, who is seeking the party’s ticket to represent the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, questioning the presence of individuals he identified as NDC officials within the vicinity of the electoral body’s premises.

In a video that has since circulated online, Trageel accused INEC of compromising its neutrality after spotting a vehicle allegedly conveying NDC officials within the commission’s premises.

“We just came to INEC at Area 10 and we saw a vehicle carrying some NDC officials in the corner. INEC, we have never trusted you and these people were found at your premises. What were NDC officials doing at your premises? I have evidence of those people, sue me to court,” he declared during the heated exchange.

The allegation sparked tension at the commission’s office as the duo demanded explanations over what they described as suspicious activity.

However, the situation was quickly defused when an INEC official addressed their concerns and dismissed claims of any partisan activity taking place at the location.

According to the official, the commission was conducting its routine Continuous Voter Registration and revalidation exercise, which is open to all eligible Nigerians regardless of political affiliation.

The official further advised the politicians to seek clarification before drawing conclusions, insisting that the presence of members of the public at the premises should not be interpreted as evidence of electoral misconduct.

The controversy comes amid growing interest in the affairs of the NDC, the political platform under which former Anambra State governor Peter Obi is expected to contest the 2027 presidential election.

As of the time of filing this report, the NDC had not issued an official statement on the allegations raised by the actor and his supporters.
