At the Pennsylvania Bible and Covenant Watchtower’s 2024 Annual Meeting, held by Jehovah’s Witnesses, significant changes were announced regarding the organisation’s policies and leadership.
Governing Body member Jeffery Winder revealed that the minimum age requirement for Bethel service has been officially lowered to 18 years. This decision marks a notable change, opening the doors for younger members to participate in the essential operations of the group’s headquarters and branch offices around the world.
In addition to this announcement, the Governing Body, which oversees the global operations and spiritual guidance of Jehovah’s Witnesses, introduced two new members to their ranks.
Jody Jedele and Jacob Rumph were named as the latest additions, expanding the leadership of the religious movement.
Both new members are expected to take on significant roles in guiding the organisation’s future activities and doctrine.
During the event, Governing Body member Gage Fleegle delivered a pointed critique of what Jehovah’s Witnesses refer to as “Christendom”—a term they often use to describe mainstream Christian denominations.
Fleegle referenced a century-old publication titled: “Ecclesiastics Indicted”, first issued in October 1924, to highlight what he called the on-going allegiance of clergy and churches to the devil.
His comments echoed long-standing Jehovah’s Witnesses’ criticisms of other religious groups, which they view as deviating from true Christian teachings.
The annual meeting is a key event for Jehovah’s Witnesses, as it provides an opportunity for leadership to make important announcements and reflect on the organisation’s history, mission, and future direction.
