The Muslim Youth Council of Nigeria (MYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, has rejected attempts to turn the APC Nasarawa South senatorial primary into a religious issue.

In a statement issued on May 21, 2026, the group said the seat has never been about religion, noting that Christians held the position for over 16 years without opposition based on faith.

The council also pointed out that both leading aspirants are working with mixed religious teams, describing it as proof of unity within the party.

MYCN urged stakeholders to focus on competence and popularity, stressing that the APC allows equal opportunity for all members.

The statement was signed by State Chairman, Amb. Muhammad A. Abdullahi, and Secretary, Mallam Umar Abdullahi Muh’d.
