Fresh cracks have emerged within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the rejection of the party’s recently released Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list by some members of the State Executive Committee, who have accused the leadership of sidelining key stakeholders and violating established party guidelines.
The aggrieved officials described the list as unacceptable, alleging that its composition was neither sufficiently consultative nor consistent with the party’s internal procedures.
In a joint statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola; Welfare Officer, Deaconess Adesola Ayangbile; Assistant Organising Secretary, Rasheed Adeniji; and Ex-Officio member, Abiola Ololade, the officials demanded an urgent review of the composition.
They particularly faulted the alleged exclusion of several members of the State Working Committee, insisting that such officials should be recognised as statutory members of the campaign council under the APC’s guidelines.
The party chieftains also questioned the circumstances surrounding the emergence of the new list, pointing out that Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier reportedly been named Director-General of the Osun Presidential Campaign Council and had inaugurated a broad-based campaign team.
They demanded clarification on whether the newly circulated list was meant for the Presidential Campaign Council or a Parliamentary Campaign Council, warning that the apparent lack of clarity could trigger further confusion and deepen divisions within the party.
The officials called on the APC leadership to immediately revisit the list through wider consultations with relevant stakeholders, specifically urging the involvement of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and the State Director-General.
Despite their objections, the aggrieved chieftains reaffirmed their commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, stressing that loyalty to the party should not be interpreted as an obligation to remain silent over decisions capable of undermining its unity.
They maintained that all legitimate stakeholders must be recognised and accommodated in the campaign structure to guarantee effective coordination, internal harmony and a successful presidential campaign.
The development has exposed fresh disagreements within the Osun APC, raising questions about internal consultation, inclusiveness and the party’s readiness to manage its campaign machinery without further rancour.
