Ward Congress: Party members kick as APC adopts consensus

There was discordant tune among members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ward 10 (Adams Oshiomole’s Ward), Etsako West Local Government of Edo State over the selection of who to pilot the affairs of the party during Saturday ward Congress.

The aggrieved parties insisted that election should hold as persons who do not vote in their unit cannot oversee the affairs of the Ward.


The Ward 10 Chairman in Etsako West Local Government, Comrade Adams Mumin while addressing the party faithful assured that the matter would be addressed thereof.

He spoke shortly after he was inaugurated as the new Ward 10 Chairman of the Council.

The Chairman said: I, as the party Chairman believe in party supremacy. Some of the members are aggrieved on the selecton of executive. The party leaders will look into the issue based on what the members are saying.

“We are going to setup a reconciliation committee to look into the issue.”

Other executive members selected to pilot the affairs of the party at Ward 10 in Etsako West include; Emuakemeh Donatus Sule as Vice Chairman, Imokhai Patrick as Secretary, Nasiru Yakubu as Asst. Secretary, Eshiemhokhai Peter as Treasurer, Mrs Okpaloafe Josephine as Asst. Treasurer, Jimoh Udukhokhai as Welfare Officer, Cletus Ignoni as Asst. Welfare Officer, Abdulrasheed Alabi as Financial Secretary, Braimah Rafael as Asst. Financial Secretary, Umoru Beauties as Woman Leader, Batholomen Matta as Asst. Woman Leader, Suleiman Isah as Youth Leader.

Emeokpere Inope as Asst. Youth Leader, Okhumeolor Jeremiah as Organising Secretary, Emmanuel Imela as Asst. Organising Secretary, Osigwe Abdullai as Publicity Secretary, while Ago or Martins is to serve as Asst. Publicity Secretary among others.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) had in a statement recommended consensus option for election of party officials at all levels in the congresses to reduce possible acrimony.

“For us, we have to take into consideration the need to accommodate everyone because APC is a party for all Nigerians.

“We are encouraging states to adopt the consensus arrangement because it saves costs and reduces acrimony.

“That is why when you look at Article 20 of our Constitution which talks about elections, the first thing there is for members to try reaching consensus,” it reads.
