President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched a blistering attack on former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, questioning their leadership credentials during the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Addressing party supporters, Tinubu mocked Obi over the persistent erosion menace in Anambra State, alleging that the former governor failed to tackle the environmental challenge before leaving office.
The President challenged Obi’s presidential ambition, claiming he abandoned a problem he could not solve.
“One governor, Peter Obi, claimed he is in one party they call NDC, who is running for president. He ran away from erosion in Anambra State. He couldn’t confront erosion,” Tinubu declared.
In a direct comparison, the President boasted about his administration’s efforts to tackle coastal erosion, invoking the Atlantic Ocean as evidence of his leadership capacity.
“I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, confronted the Atlantic Ocean. I tamed it for you,” he said.
Tinubu also took aim at Atiku Abubakar, questioning his political consistency and loyalty over his repeated departures from political platforms.
The President recalled Atiku’s long association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing him of abandoning the party over internal disagreements before aligning with another political platform.
“They lack leadership and character. If a man that was once upon a time a baby of PDP became father later and because of a little inconvenience he ran away from that party and formed a dangerous camp in another party, is that a leadership trait? And he wants you to vote for him!” Tinubu said.
The President’s remarks formed part of his campaign attack on opposition figures as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
